We received the retail build of God of War III yesterday and we are definitely pleased with the finished product.

There is a noticeable graphical improvement in the retail build — everything is more polished and there is a lot more detail in everything.

We haven’t noticed any screen-tearing or frame dipping (at least nothing that the average eye can see). The graphic quality is ace throughout — it’s definitely eye candy for the gamers. Is it at Uncharted 2 standards? Well, I haven’t had much time to compare, besides — there’s just so much going on in God of War III that it’s pretty hard focusing on the small stuff: textures and all the graphical mumbo-jumbo.

When it comes to epicness God of War III speaks in volumes; seeing the Gods battle the Titans while you take on hordes of undead beasties — can you say “Oh my God (of War III)!”

So, you think this article is a little bare? Well, I don’t disagree. The thing is, we are under a strict embargo until early next week and we need to keep most the juicy details on the hush until then — but I guess I can bend the rules a little.

Here is some more information on the retail code:

You have four difficulty modes; Spartan (Easy), God (Normal), Titan (Hard), and Chaos (Very Hard). You need to unlock Chaos by beating the game.

There’s also a new Tresures menu for your unlockables and downloaded content. Listed in this menu is: Videos, Costumes, Combat Arena, and Challenges.
