Battle Tanks is one of those games that are fun but certain things prevents them from becoming a really great game. Battle Tanks is a top down shooter where you take control of a tank with one mission in mind – to destroy other tanks on the map. For a game that is only 60MB the visuals are quite nice and detailed, sound effects are also pretty good for its size. The gameplay is very simple – easy to learn and easy to master.

Over 50 levels are featured in the game, but considering each level can last less than 15 minutes you will be able to finish the game in a few hours. One trophy even rewards the player for beating the game in under 60 Minutes. Each level starts with you and enemy tanks on the screen. Most of the time your objective will be to destroy all enemy tanks as quickly as possible. The game awards you on how fast you completed a level and on tasks such as picking up power ups etc. The level design of Battle Tanks is very simple yet tricky, they can become quite hectic with you and four other tanks blasting everything in sight – it’s quite fun. Later levels also feature auto turrets which can become a chore to destroy since they can intercept your fire. Most of the time your only option is to shoot your missile in a way it bounces off the wall to reduce the chance of it getting hit. As you progress, the level design gets trickier and the enemies become harder to kill. The trick lies in your reflexes and how fast you can move your tank among a barrage of bouncing missiles and cannons.

Multiplayer is quite standard as well. You got your Death Match, Team Death Match and Capture the Flag. Battle Tanks also has a Co-Op mode. Unfortunately, hardly anyone is playing this game online, so your sole option is to invite a friend and duke it out against each other. Battle Tanks’ trophies are quite easy, ranging from playing a certain number of online matches to not getting hit while playing a maximum number of games.

Battle Tanks is a very fun game, but the length of its campaign and lack of enemies online greatly diminishes its value.
