In the latest Listen UP (1UP.com’s weekly podcast) episode, David Ellis revealed a new rumor saying that the PS3 Slim is coming in August and that it will bundled with Madden NFL 10.
The transcript below can be heard at the 01:26:14 mark
“It’s gonna be in August. Everything I’ve heard says it’s coming in August, it’s tied with Madden.”
Sony already confirmed a three hours long press conference for GamesCom on August 18 and Madden’s release date is August 14.
According to Ellis that’s one of the reasons for Activision’s CEO “threat” against Sony – because they are tieing the release of the PS3 Slim with an EA game and not an Activision title.

I am sure Sony could make a bundle that includes an Activision game for a month after MAdden’s release.
But good choice there Madden, but what about Europe? Maybe Fifa 10?
i imagine a ps3 slim bundled with modern warfare 2 would sell like hotcakes. just a rumor of course, but if I were Sony, I would have put my eggs in that basket instead of Madden, and If I were Activision and I heard this news i would probably be a little grumpy too.

Everyone look at the actual PS3 font used on the box…doesn’t look like an exact match the the Sony font. Also, think about it for a second. Why the hell would Sony schedule a HUGE 3 hour press announcement 3 days after the release???
Why not tie the Slim to the exact release for day 1 sales? Doesn’t make business sense to me.
i heard today that online tournys in madden 10 are exclusive for the ps3 only.
I think this might possibly push ps3 hardware sales.

Whatever happened to this being a fake unit made by a Chinese company that didn’t want people to know it was fake so they could cash in on the name? pause the video and carefully watch, there is only one video output port, an ethernet port and power. there isn’t an HDMI port or an optical digital port. I don’t see any USB ports and where are the buttons for power and eject. I wouldn’t know if Sony is or isn’t doing a slim model but I’m sure it would be big enough for an announcement like the PSP Go! and we would have to wait a short time to get it.

you know just for once I’d love to read a article from a site about how a rumour is false and back that up. rumor killers almost fall into this category but just miss because they are just a token section of another site that does the same old crap.
the real question is how many times can a site like this be wrong before it looses integrity. I didn’t see IGN report on this rumour yet, maybe that’s why they get the factual information and exclusive interviews before most other web sites. I’m just sorry I clicked on the link to this article today and had to read this garb, again.

Aw man! This is too early! I was expecting the slimmer, cheaper, backward compatible PS3 to be bundled with the GOD of War III. Anyways, lets see.
