Silver Trophy

This list is meant to try and encompass some of the toughest Trophies out there. Bear in mind, these trophies may or may not be time consuming – but they are definitely hard to get. Only games that feature Platinum trophies are included, if not – PAIN and Soldner X would leave no room for the rest. Bear in mind these are in no particular order.

Be sure to leave your comments and tell us which trophies YOU think should’ve made the cut, enjoy!

Killzone 2 – Heroic Survivor (Gold) ***Contains Spoilers***

Complete all missions on Elite difficulty.

Beating Killzone 2 in Elite difficulty is hard: You can only take a couple of shots before you’re dead and the AI is unforgiving. Despite of this, you can still shoot your way through with some skill and a bit of trial and error… That is until you cross the gates of hell. I am referring, of course, to the Autarch’s Sanctum, a section of the game so unforgiving that you can expect to die to the upwards of 50 times. It doesn’t help that the developers seemed to pour all their AI knowledge into the Helghast, leaving you with brain-dead Rico to watch your back. Enemies swarm you in waves of increasing difficulty, culminating in the dreaded Rocket Launcher guys. After killing his goons, you have to take care of Radec himself – who will butcher you if you don’t turn around quick enough. OUCH!

Call of Duty: World at War – For the Motherland (Bronze) ***Contains Spoilers***

Complete ‘Heart of the Reich’ on Veteran difficulty. (Solo only)

Veteran difficulty in COD:W@W will cause you to curse at the heavens and fling your shoes at the television. Heart of the Reich, particularly the Storm the Plaza checkpoint, is without a doubt the most frustrating part of the game. The enemies will lob grenades at you with so much accuracy it feels like you’re fighting an army of Nazi Tom Bradys and Johan Santanas. Seriously, stay in a spot for more than 3 seconds and you will be peppered with so many grenades, it sounds like a toast at a wedding. Couple that with the fact that this seems like the longest checkpoint in the entire game and you have yourself a recipe for tears. The kicker? It’s a bronze trophy…

wipeout-hd-yogev-4

Wipeout HD – Zone Zeus (Gold):

In Zone Mode, reach Zone 75 on any track.

In Zone Mode, your ship starts out at a relatively slow speed with full shields and each 10 seconds, your ship accelerates a little. The trophy requires you to survive long enough to reach Zone 75, the problem is that even when you reach Zone 50, your ship is so incredibly fast that you require nothing short of superhuman reflexes to steer it. By the time you reach Zone 75, you’re probably in a state of trance so deep that may not realize you’re having a seizure.

Wipeout HD – Beat Zico (Gold):

Equal or beat the lap time of 30.82 seconds on Anulpha Pass (Forward), Speed Lap, Venom using the Piranha.

Ah, Wipeout HD again, to some, the hardest Platinum Trophy out there. Let me state the following: I don’t know who Zico is, but I hate him. In order to attain this trophy, you have to successfully catch every boost, avoid hitting any wall, perform flawless barrel rolls and maneuver your ship perfectly. Just a tiny miscalculation results in failure by a fraction of a second. The precision required to attain this Trophy is truly remarkable.

Grand Theft Auto IV – Auf Wiedersen Petrovic (Bronze):

You won in all variations of multiplayer games.

This trophy would be quite easy if it wasn’t broken. I don’t know if it has been fixed or not, but to all the people who have it, my most sincere congratulations. If the Trophy wasn’t broken, you could do this over time, taking breaks, focusing on winning a few events each day. But alas, such is not the case. For some inexplicable reason, you have to win them all in one sitting, with the same people, without any of you quitting or losing the connection. Even if you stay online but your partner’s connection drops, you will not win the Trophy. Plus, it’s not like you have to win 15 events, there’s a total of 102 different events, adding up to about 10 hours a sitting. If only it weren’t broken…

GTA IV

Rock Band 2 – The Bladder of Steel Award (Gold):

Completed the Endless Setlist 2 without pausing or failing.

Thankfully, this can be done on any difficulty, but it doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly tiresome. To earn this Gold Trophy, you have to complete 84 songs straight, no water, no bathroom breaks, nothing, just you and your instrument. By the time you finish this, you will have either carpal tunnel for all you bassist and guitarists, or throbbing biceps and forearms for the drummers.

Mirror’s Edge – Superstar (Gold):

Attain a Time Trial star rating of 90. [Pure Time Trials]

Granted, it’s a DLC Trophy and not necessary for the Platinum, but damn is it hard. You must achieve 3 stars ranking in almost every Trial, which means painfully exploring for the best routesmand executing perfectly. A single hard landing, wrong turn, or bad jump can drop you from 3 to 2 stars, costing you this hellish nightmare of a trophy.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe – The Thunder God (Bronze):

Complete Raiden’s Kombo Challenge

All of the Kombo Challenges are incredibly tricky, but Raiden’s takes the prize of most horrendously frustrating. If screaming rabidly at the TV would unlock this trophy, then everyone would have it after the 10th try, let alone 25th or 50th. The timing necessary to complete the Kombos is so utterly ridiculous, that to this day I suspect the Trophy is given out randomly. You could’ve sworn you did it, in fact, Raiden unleashes a convincing flurry of attacks, but still the button combination remains in the screen, as if mocking you.

Street Fighter IV

Street Fighter IV – Playing to Win (Silver):

Win 10 ranked matches in a row.

This Trophy was probably easier to get when the game just released. Those happy times when we were all noobs, clumsily hitting each other, maybe spamming a few moves. Alas, those days are long gone and the people that still play the game are the people who already have the Trophy. You may be on a roll – your Cammy has defeated 6 opponents in a row and you feel empowered, victorious, cocky maybe? And then you get matched against a Ryu and it turns out it’s Ryu himself, sitting in his couch in Japan with Ken beside him laughing his ass off as you get pummeled in 13 seconds. Ouch, time to start over for the 12th time.

Street Fighter IV- No Challenge Too Hard:

Cleared HARD Trial in Challenge Mode.

Again a Trophy that has to do with the Combos, only with a ‘C’ instead of a ‘K’ and not just for one character, but for all. This trophy requires you to be precise, patient, and skilled. Did I mention patient?

Well, there you go, for all the Platinum Trophy seeking whores out there, steer clear from these games unless you’re ready for a real test of skills. Like I said before, some Trophies might be more time consuming (I’m looking at you Resistance 2), but these take the crown as the most utterly hellish. Proceed at your own risk, you have been warned.

That WAW trophy almost made me break my controller, just utterly cheap BS. I got it though.

Also got the Killzone 1, only thing preventing me from getting the platinum is the top#1 weekly rank, theres no excuse for such a stupid trophy.

  2. Kingharris says:

I Chose The Impossible should be listed on Bioshock.

  3. Derk says:

The “Get your first Treasure” on Uncharted was incredibly hard! I mean c’mon… who is going to find that shining dot on the ground huh?

  4. Gibbs says:

The FIFA 20v20 Clubs trophey is almost impossible, its just luck that if you manage to get 10 people you will find another, most likely youll find a team of 4 players. Ridiculous, trophies should be about skill and things you can do, not luck of the draw.

  5. Sameh says:

Great article, the first trophy is definetly the hardest as there is one section in the game that is just too hard. The 2nd checkpoint in Autarchs Sanctum. I don’t even want to talk about that. I must have died more than 100 times in that one section. The other ones that i have are the CoD and Street Fighter Playing to Win trophies. The latter can easily be boosted, but i agree if you are doing it legitimately then it’s a real pain.

  6. Galaxium says:

The impossible in Bioshock is not impossible compared to some of the trophies listed in this article. Gonna make a list here.

    Infamous.

My least favourite is the Rockhound Trophy from Infamous. First because its a bronze and secondly if by some darn bad luck(100% of the time) a player misses out on 1 shard then he/she might as well start praying to the gods of pixel heaven because alot of patience will be needed to search building by building all 3 maps and in some cases more than once.

  7. drib the lawyer says:

I agree about the Killzone trophy (finish in #1 weekly rank). This trophy caters to people with no jobs, girlfriends, children. I am unable to compete with this and will have to wait 5-8 years to get the trophy when I am the only person playing the game.

  8. homerjnick says:

Eh? Some of those are easy trophies.

No mention of PAINs King of PAIN?

    • Yogev says:

“Only games that feature Platinum trophies are included, if not – PAIN and Soldner X would leave no room for the rest.” :)

  9. Name says:

Street Fighter IV – Playing to Win (Silver):

Easy workaround to get it. Get together with a friend and have both of you set preferred language to something obscure, then one host a game and then other will find it easily when searching for ranked match. Host can just kick anyone else who comes in, which won’t happen if you choose an obscure enough language. Then just have one win 10, then swap around and let the other one.

Probably not the most honest way, but hey, disqualifies it from most difficult in my opinion.

  10. chris says:

that GTAIV trophy is the worst, it completly goes against the idea of how trophies should work, something that just happens onec you have beaten all the game types

this I must say was the biggest let down for me for GTAIV since every GTA until this one I have 100% completed everything, until they fix this they can forget about me wasting 10 straight hours

  11. Gamerps360 says:

I almost agree but some of the games i havn’t played!! Buy yes! KZ2 has 2 tough trophies!
    1. The last level of elite mode!
    2.The last weekly online rank!

I would also like to mention Don’t get cocky kid trophy from Dead Space! It requires lots of Patience!!

  12. gagan says:

nice article ,but you forgot to mention the hardest psn trophy on ps3 , its to be a legit General in WarhawK , no other trophy can be compared to it , none .

  13. MetalGearCrysis says:

LOL @ those who say the Call of Duty: World at War – For the Motherland (Bronze) is hard. Sure it takes a little time but c’mon… Late Boomer from Super Stardust HD needs to be on this list.

    No offense intended though! ^^

  14. MetalGearCrysis says:

But then again this article only focuses on games w/platinums. Yes I just noticed lol. How about one with PSN games?

  15. alexi says:

that killzone was sort of easy. the only hard part for me was radec. the part before it was easy as hell.. i just ran through the whole thing trying to reach the checkpoint. lol

i’m gonna agree with the wipeout trophies, those are impossible screw whoever created them.
i think you should’ve put King of Pain trophy, along with the 2nd bronze trophy for Soldner X. if you can make it that far, jesus you need a life. lol

  16. Mark says:

I don’t think people who haven’t played WAW understand how retardedly cheap that trophy was. His description was spot on. Its not even a matter of skill, just timing and luck.

  17. RedEye420 says:

dude you are VEEERRRRY WRONG about AWP. it’s people like you that spread these nasty rumors. YOU ARE WRONG YOU ARE WRONG YOU ARE WRONG.

    1. it doesn’t have to be done in one sitting – promise
    2. it doesn’t have to be done with the same people – promise

idiots like you that post shit like this without any specific knowledge are why everybody thinks AWP is harder than it is. No patience, no perseverance. you don’t deserve AWP and you’re a fool for spreading that falsified rumor. WAY TO SUCK IT UP.

  18. DJ says:

The hardest trophies to get are in Blitz 2 the game is BS even in easy mode the game makes you want to hit God in the face-
    Nice list

  19. Grave_Harry says:

    Finished the first two ^_^.
    Got the platinum for WaW.

  20. CrimsonFox13 says:

Aw, come on. SOCOM and Warhawk are said to be the two hardest games to get platinums in, along with Wipeout HD.

I’ve seen topics in forums say that every SOCOM trophy is so hard that each should be a gold trophy.

Warhawk requires you to put in like 800 hours to get to general. It was even worse before the update, because the update lowered the requirements for ranking up, AND gave you extra points for winning.

    Either way, good article.

  21. gagan says:

yogev, thats why it makes its so hard , u spend like close to 900 plus hours to be a general , i dont think so any trophy on psn takes so much time to unlock , peace …….

  22. roflquest says:

hmmm, radec is just a matter of shotgun + slip into the little room at the entrance on veteran and it took me many deaths to figure that out. don’t tell me that won’t work on elite.

@Galaxium: but with the radar you can find 99.9% of shards. the tough one is the one out on the water stuck in the post. you have to hop over four posts to get to it. didn’t pop up on the radar since it was a bit out in the water. I think the only shard you can’t collect once you miss it is the one under the bridge between neon and the 2nd district. also, remember that if a shard is way high, like on top of the trashman tower, it will not show up on radar until you’ve climbed partly up the tower.

    wipeout HD kicks my a$$

  23. Deemster says:

I agree with most of this list, but not the WaW trophy … it just takes a little time and luck, I know a LOT of people which have the WaW platinum. On the other hand: I haven’t seen anybody who has the Wipeout platinum, my cousin just needs “Arcade Perfect” for the platinum though.

Myself I have the resistance 2 platinum, which takes a LOT of time . You fail to mention that making 10000 kills in Competitive Mode also takes a good deal of skill and patience … it’s surely more hellish than the WaW one.

Also I’ve got the Mirror’s Edge platinum, and I think the last speed run is harder then any of the other Time Trials three star times.

  24. jordankid93 says:

OMG, the Super Startdust HD trophy, i think its called bomb collector or whatever its alled, should be on there. Its the one where you need to collect 15 bombs. OMG i still havent gotten it (any probably never will). Ill omment again if i think of another lol.

  25. Wow yeah says:

    Singstar trophies aint easy

Fifa 09. play all of manager mode without simming and 10v10 club match

  26. Chris says:

    Warhawk’s – Warhawk Award
Earn all in-game badges at Warhawk level

Is pretty darn hard, but no where near as hard as the gold ‘Achieve General Rank’…. hundreds & hundreds of hours are required if not well over a thousand

  27. Craig says:

For the playing to win trophy i just messaged some random guy like “Hey you let me beat you 10 times, i let you beat me 10 times, Wala.”

  28. JJ says:

thats a great list, there are a few of them i would trade out with others. im actually surprised u didnt put any warhawk trophies like some ppl have mentioned. i do agree with the first, that was a pain to get, i actually got all the other trophies before i got that one. i actually didnt have to much trouble with the top 1% one, i only played a couple hours a day on the weekdays and a couple more hours on the weekend. it felt so awesome though getting that elite trophy then getting that platinum after that :)

  29. FACTUAL evidence says:

Where THE FUCK is far cry 2!!?!

  30. BlackSharinganX says:

k top games that are hard for trophies, ill say 1 warhawk man some of the trophies are hard cuase of level up, 2 killzone yah tha last story part is a killer, 3 GTA broken thing, 4 street fighter oh goddd,5 would be metal gear if they put the trophies there lol

  31. J7pr says:

The “Bladder of Steel” trophy in RB2 it’s so true. I’ve won that trophy after four and a half hours, or more, of non-stop guitar playing on expert. Extremely hard to get, but not impossible. I wished I had a better reward for it. Like, I don’t know, A FREAKING FREE DOWNLOADABLE SONG FOR THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!! God, that was sooooo HAAAAARD……

  32. name says:

thats what gives me the shits about trophys.
they should be about skill not time, they should not have trophys that take more than 1 month to complete.
like the 100000 competitive kills from resistance 2, some of us have lifes and cant spend 12 hours per day ranking up kills.
in fact MP trophies should not be included for the plat.
because some people well alot of people i know cant play MP games because there net connection is to slow, every time they log into KZ2 they get kicked out because it uses a P2P network instead of dedicated servers LIKE SONY PROMISED!.
sony need to stop being cheap assed and set up some dedicated servers for there games im sick of there excuses its not fair when people pay FULL PRICE for a game but can only acsess half of its content

  33. name says:

thats what i hated about infamous trophys.
you have to find all the shards if you have 1 left like i did you have to search all 3 islands.
you can spend 2 3 4 hours searching a island and cant find it so you move onto the next.
than rinse and repeat till you get to the 3rd and STILL cant find it.
so youve spend say 4 hours looking for 1 bloody shard for nothing.
sony should make it that if you want to put colectiables trophys into games YOU MUST have a table showing wich ones you have and which ones you dont.
and which lvl or island there on.
like if theres 100 shards and your missing 1 the game tells you your missing shard # 91 than all i need to go is google it and BOOM i know where it is.
if R2 can do it if KZ2 can do it WTF not every other game it cant be that hard.
R2 told you how many of each LVL you have and wich # your missing making it enjoyable and fun to find,
same with KZ2 you hit select and it tells you if the lvl your in has a intel or symbol you have missed.
    is that so bloody hard?

  34. Pez says:

    Megaman 9…

  35. MadCJ1 says:

    Killzone 2

    Weekly Ranking No.1

Yoda could not crack that “£uc&ing” Trophy !!!!

Then again when you look at the top rankers and find they have spend 38 days in playtime sat on their fat sweaty ar$es ;O)

  36. Pigeonwolf says:

Oh come on. The hardest trophy has to be the one on SF4 where you have to complete the game on the hardest difficulty and defeat Gouken. Just to play him you have to get 5 perfects, no continues 3 ultra combo finishes etc.

That is one hard mean game.

  37. Incendious says:

name, I got the Rockhound trophy in inFamous. I found it easier than killing all the GTA IV pidgeons, since the game gives you a radar. If you’re going to Google the shards, then I’m sure someone will have cataloged them for you with ID numbers, just like they’ve done with GTA IV pidgeons. The only way I was able to kill all those flying rats was with the help of people posting up pictures and map locations on the Internet, and even cataloging them with numbers.

I don’t mind the time consuming trophies, since it shows you’re willing to play the game a lot. And the reward is a nice shiny trophy and leveling points. It’s a feel good moment for all the hard work. Same for the difficult trophies. If everyone could get easy Platinum trophies, then I probably wouldn’t bother doing them anymore since they’d be meaningless.

  38. lony says:

    You left out WARHAWK!
the only thing that seperates WH from all the others is skill.
If you put your mind to it and have some skill you can get any of these trophies mentioned in that list,
BUT warhawk platinum, my friend, is another story,
you need to be a GENERAL in order to get that trophie, not to mention all the other requirments and tropies involved.
let`s focus on the general thing, you need 275,000 points! in an avarage game you land a score of between 50-200 if you are really good, a typical game is 30 min long, so you need about 5500 games to achive that rank, that means 2750 hours of online play!!!
    now that`s HARD…

  39. G92Terran says:

No trophies are hard on the games that i bought … thats exactly why before i buy any game i look at the trophies to see if they’re easy, if not then time consuming and skill-related … General trophy in warkawk can easily be obtained if u take ur game to the developers and they will give u the trophy probably for a small fee, they the ones who made the trophies tho :)

I have platinum Burnout paradise, Resident Evil 5, and Quantum of Solace, soon MLB 09 the Show (84% – 5 trophies left) I say MLB 09 THE SHOW is tough and time consuming but not impossible… the trophy is PERSONAL PERFECTION – Throw a perfect game on all star or higher difficulty using your RTTS player… now if they say do that on LEGEND only (which is the highest and hardest difficulty) then it would be 99% impossible for me lol …

  40. Ryan says:

psh… all of the Socom trophies make these look easy. ive been playing for about 6 months now and only have 2.

  41. I says:

I’m surprised out of all the comments, no one has mentioned MK vs. DCU
Wipeout HD is the hardest game out there, if you can plat this you can do any other trophy, like the kombo challenges which would bring me to the 2nd hardest plat. Idk how hard Raiden’s is compared to the others but just picking a few at random and you’ll find yourself getting stuck.

“x amount of kills” trophy aren’t hard, its base is getting a kill and doing that over and over, and getting a kill in all those fps are not hard at all. theres a difference between impossible and hard, warhawk is impossible/unreasonable

that rb2 trophy is easy if you have other people to trade off with you in the room, awf needs to be replaced, obviously sf4 can be boosted

    mentionables include ME and Singstar

  42. DSJoKeR says:

fifa 09 fling yourself at it trophy and COD 5on veteran

  43. G92Terran says:

Hello Guys, JUst saying Happy New Year and I PLATINUM MLB 09 THE SHOW 100% it was a challenge.. heard there will be MLB 10 THE SHOW.. cant wait to get my hands on this and the new RE5 and MW2 DLC upcoming SPring 2010… anywayz … as of now… that hardest trophy for me was

    Call of Duty: Classic
War Hero (Gold) – Complete the game on Veteran Difficulty

THis was very hard as there is no regeneration health and u die within 3 shots so i tried to keep my 100% health all thru the whole game and I finally got it, then i had to go bak and beat it on Hardened and Regular.. WHeww
CALL OF DUTY CLASSIC made my 7th Platinum with 335 total trophies!!!
