I downloaded the Red Faction: Guerilla demo via the PlayStation Store over the weekend. I didn’t even know Red Faction: Guerilla existed until a couple of weeks ago, when I searched the web for new games to buy and I’m glad I did as it looks like it’s going to be a brilliant game.
The demo is pretty short but within that space of time you get an insight into what the game is going to be like (finally – a good demo). With over 120 missions in a huge open map where you can go and do whatever you want, with whatever consequences. The controls are very good, very easy to understand and very easy to pick up relatively quick.
The environment is designed beautifully and the graphics looks amazing. The shooting, in third-person works a peach! You get to see all of your surroundings and with a bit of skill you can get a really decent shot on an enemy in the very far distance. The map is quite outstanding – you can go explore every inch it.
There’s a huge amount of weapon source to choose from through out the game. In the demo you get only the essentials – Assault riffle, grenades and of course your trusty hammer. The hammer is great and that makes the environment even better – being able to destroy everything in your path is great! You can create a surprise attack on the enemy by bashing your way through or you can create little hideout hole, stand back and snipe the enemy…
If that doesn’t persuade you to get the game, there is also online multiplayer where you can play up to 16 players, which should be a great and intense online experience.
There’s so much that you can do – you should definitely try the demo – let us know what you think!
