With hundreds upon hundreds of games released in 2008 I decided to compile a list of the most anticipated games of 2009. Will those games live up to the hype?

Top 10 most anticipated games:

#10 – The Godfather II:

Set for release on February 10th – The Godfather II has not been as noticed as the first one.  The Godfather II extends the Original Story with Rich Experiences in Florida, Cuba and New York, and introduces new Action-Strategy Gameplay. Will The Godfather II be a better game – only time will tell.

#9 – Prototype

Prototype blew me away after I saw it’s first footage. Prototype is a third person hack and slash mutant on the loose with super jumping skills and super strength. Set for release on April 1st, Prototype is going to be something to be looking for.

#8 – Street Fighter IV

The next installment of the  fighting series will hit consoles and PC on February 20th. It features a new engine, new characters and a new cross-platform multiplayer – meaning Xbox 360 gamers will be able to fight against PlayStation 3 gamers. We hope this title will live up to its promises.

#7 – F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is looking good – far better then the first one. Not much is known about this game aside for the fact its creators changed its name from Project Origin to F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin and the few screenshots that were released. It is due February 10th.

#6 – Bionic Commando

Bionic Commando is making the transformation from a 2D platform game to a third person shooter. Will this change improve the game or will it be a risk that brings about the downfall of Bionic Commando? We will find out Februaury 10th.

#5 – Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

The Second PlayStation 3 exclusive installment will place Nathan Drake on a quest surrounding 13th century Marco Polo and his voyages. Uncharted 2 will have new gameplay scenes like free climbing mechanics and stealth combat. Uncharted 2 is due out in Q4 2009.

#4 – God Of War III

The two teaser trailers promises us – there will be chaos…. Will the fourth installment of God of War (including the PSP) be the last one or will it be another chapter in Kratos’s story? God of War II is set to release on December 2009 although we might only see it in 2010…

#3 – Final Fantasy XIII

We have been waiting very patiently for this title. Trailers have been released along with screenshots, character names and pieces of the story, but the release date is still uncertain. For Square Enix marked 2009 as the year of the release, but this one too might come out only in 2010.

#2 – Killzone 2

Shown at Leipzig Games Convention 2006, a date is finally set for this PlayStation 3 exclusive – February 27th. Killzone 2 is looking good.. Real good… Some say it’s the best looking FPS ever made. We don’t need to wait for much longer.

#1 – Resident Evil 5

Resident Evil 5 takes the top spot on the list. With a release date set for March 13th and a demo already out, the game looks promising. New gameplay, new location, new co-op story and a new partner to have your back while you blow the heads of zombies in Africa – Resident Evil 5 looks amazing.
