Arcade games – awesome games… This game however – oh… let me describe it this:

Vigilante 8: Arcade is like a hot middle-aged chick who knows how to dress nice, put some makeup and stick here goodies out to see. and… she has HIV. Didn’t see it coming, did you? For an arcade game it looks good but when you dig a little deeper you discover things which will hunt your dreams for years to come. I bet you wonder – is that really that bad? Oh yes… yes it is…

Vigilante 8: Arcade is a racing game that has no finish line. It works on “The Car Driving” system. The player is driving around, finding power-ups and weapons that will assist in the only mission, kill’em all. Sounds awesome ha? It’s not! Vigilante 8: Arcade provides very cumbersome controls that takes a lot of deaths in order to get used to. – so brace yourself for a frustrating experience. If your opponents won’t kill you the camera will. The camera doesn’t handle sharp turns or circles maneuvers (both are very common in this game) very well. It’s easy for the car to get out of the screen and rely on the mercy of the AI (or AS – artificial stupidity). The AI is extra stupid in Vigilante 8: Arcade. Even on the hardest difficulty level they can be easily beaten. In addition, it’s not uncommon for the AI to ignore each other and only targets the player.

The only thing that saves the Vigilante 8: Arcade from being a total failure are the multiplayer modes. Although we still have the stupid control scheme and the horrible camera engine, playing with other players online makes the game much better – we get rid of the stupid AI so online games are much more challenging. The game still sucks, but it is much bearable when playing it online.

At the end of the day, Vigilante 8: Arcade is a big failure.
