Martijn Van Der Meulen, Home producer – have commented at the Leipzig Games Convention about the release date of Home and promised it will come out this year (I wonder if he meant the full service or just the beta…):
“First and foremost, Meulen told me (without hesitation) that it is a 100 percent guarantee that Home will be released by the end of this calendar year. He has absolutely no doubt that this will be the case, so it looks like the long wait to come Home is finally reaching its conclusion. Meulen also assured me, quite adamantly, that Home will always be a free service — only premium content will need to be purchased. I know some gamers were concerned that once Home reached a certain user base, a fee might be applied to the service, but this is not the case. Meulen says that there are no plans to charge for Home, even in the far future.”

I really really want Home but im calling bullshit…only reason is because they said it was ganna be awhile ago…dont get me wrong i sooooo fucking want Home…prob. one reason i bought Ps3 also.

I want home to hurry up! I am playing Yoville (facebook) right now, and its fun and the same idea, but on a smaller level, can’t wait till it comes out.
ive already got home and at the moment its at version 0.98 so i guess it will be released at 1.0, and to be totally honest its not all that( just my opinion ) cheers for reading nath……
i think home is new for a console but it’s not entirely new the whole conceptual framework is clearly based from my space, friendster, youtube and some other social interaction network something.
Sony is making it simply 3 D! but i will say overall, it’s a step from other service! free service will surely help! because not every person have credit card just like me to avail that service!

Well actually it is very likely that home will come out this year since the public beta is coming out soon

Right now the PSN for the PS3 is free so I don’t see why it would be any different for the PS4, unless they get a mindset like Microsoft and want to start charging for everything under the sun.

In a sense your right but the way Sony is describing it is that the Extended Closed Beta is coming up and then the public beta is coming out at the end of the year but from there on it will still be in beta form and there is no real release date for a full version as it will always be improving upon itself. So in a sense it will always be in beta form.
They compare it to the way g-mail is now as it is still in beta form but it is a public beta and no one really realizes this, but g-mail is also always improving upon itself.

The public beta will be out in 2008 only. Phony will continue to milk the promised launch of actual home for another 6 months LOL
